Veronica in Dallas writes that "I saw your bumper sticker today, in Dallas, and was completly outraged. I'm actually on the fence right now on who to vote for, so my comment is not about that. I would just like to remind you and all of your supporters of the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole on October 18,2000. And as I recall, Clinton was still in administration then. Bush was not voted in to office till late November or early December that year. As a granddaughter, daughter, and sister of men and women in the military... I take complete offence to this quote! Could you imagine how the families of the victims feel? Those are at least 17 U.S. citizens lives taken, not counting several others, while Clinton was in office. I understand everybody has a right to free speech... but don't you think you should at least research your material before making it public? Because all you are doing is making you and your supporters look like insensitive jerks. Do you call yourself "Patriotic"? Damn, I can only imagine what Bush supporters think of you. Good Luck." mjg: I think you've missed the point of the statement that "Nobody Died When Clinton Lied." His "lies" were about sexual relations with a woman he wasn't married to and the resulting waste of taxpayer money and goverment attention to this matter (which is as old as politics/power itself). It certainly was NOT meant to imply that good soldiers/sailors/airmen didn't lose their lives in the service of this country on his watch. They did and for that we are all grateful. That being said, their sacrafices were NOT the result of Clinton's "Lie." They were the direct result of a terroist attack against a US warship. This is totally different than Bush lying to congress and all US citizens about the threat that Sadam Hussein represented. WMDs...not! This war, and all the good men and women who are dying their every day is really about Bush trying to make some positive headway on the war on terrorism in the eyes of the public. Osama has not been caught, very few if any credible Al Queda members were caught. It is all a sham. That is what the slogan means. I certainly have NEVER implied I don't support our servicemen and women, I just don't support their Commander in Chimp.
